Pump and level control
Manual and Automatic Star–Delta Starting with Float Switch – 2

What is manual-automatic star-delta pump starting 2?
It is the manual-automatic star-delta pump circuit built without an auxiliary contactor. The result is the same; the pump starts with star-delta in both modes.
Where is it used?
It is used wherever there are large pumps, such as wells, irrigation and building water systems. Doing the same job with fewer parts lowers the panel cost and saves space in the panel.
Power circuit and control circuit
The power circuit is the same as the previous circuit. In the control circuit the job of the auxiliary contactor is done with the timer relay's contacts and a different arrangement of the control. Comparing the two solutions shows the balance between parts and simplicity in panel design.
What to watch out for
Fewer devices means each contact does more work; the timer relay's contact type and contact rating must suit the circuit.
Parts used
- Float switch
- USF1, ASF2
- Contactor coil
- K1, K3, K2
Run it in the simulator.
This circuit is ready in the CoilPath library. Open it, press the buttons and follow the current. It also comes with a wiring view and a panel layout.
