What is jog with seal-in cancel?

In this control circuit the same motor can run continuously (sealed in) or in jog mode. In normal operation the motor starts with the start button and seals in. Pressing the jog button cancels the seal-in and the motor runs only while the button is held.

Where is it used?

It is used on machine tools, belt and conveyor systems, printing and packaging machines. The machine runs continuously in production; during setup, tool changes or maintenance the operator moves it in small steps with the jog button.

Power circuit and control circuit

The power circuit is the same as direct-on-line starting. The control circuit has an auxiliary relay, a contactor and start, stop and jog buttons. Using both the normally open and normally closed contacts of the jog button is the most instructive part of this circuit: one contact of a button can stop one job while the other starts another.

What to watch out for

For safety the motor must not seal in during jogging; otherwise the machine keeps running when the operator releases the button. Always test this once the circuit is built.
