Double Conveyor with a PLC

What is double conveyor control with a PLC?
It is an application in which two conveyors in a row are started and stopped in turn by a PLC, using sensors that detect where the product is. Each belt runs only while there is a product on it.
Where is it used?
It is used on packaging, parcel sorting, production and assembly lines and in food processing plants. Belts that do not run empty save energy and last longer, as do their motors.
PLC wiring and ladder program
The two conveyor motors run from PLC outputs through separate contactors. The sensors at the start and end of each belt go to PLC inputs. The overload contacts of both motors are wired in series to one input, so the whole line stops if one motor fails.
What it teaches
Tracking products with sensors and controlling several linked motors is the basis of conveyor automation.
